Seismic services have the potential to provide substantial value to the minerals industry in a range of environments, but there are some applications and environments that are not suited to seismic imaging.
HiSeis has developed a de-risking process that applies increasing levels of expenditure with increasing levels of confidence that the method will address the exploration problem. The process starts with rock property measurements of core samples that represent the target geology. If there is an acoustic impedance contrast, HiSeis models an inferred geological model with the rock properties that have been measured. If the synthetic reflections of the geology can be captured, the company performs the borehole logging to confirm the reflection events will reach the surface.
With positive results from the above processes, the risk of not mapping the mineralisation with a properly designed 2D / 3D seismic survey is significantly reduced.
