AusProof’s lightweight and cost-effective alternative to stainless steel plugs and receptacles, the Aluminium Low Voltage Restrained Range is designed for non-Ex operations, including metalliferous mining, open-cut mining, pumps and tunnelling projects. The plugs and receptacles available within this product variety are categorised as AES (Aluminium Extra Small), AS (Aluminium Small), and AL (Aluminium Large). In more detail:
- AES plugs and receptacles are rated to 60 and 90 amps, with current carrying capacities of 660 volts and 1,100 volts;
- AS plugs and receptacles are rated to 150 amps, with current carrying capacities of 660 or 1,100 volts;
- AL plugs and receptacles are rated to 300 amps and 425 amps, with current carrying capacities of 660, 1,100 or 3,300 volts.
To prevent confusion with other restrained range products, the AES, AS and AL plugs and receptacles were given a fresh new look. Painted in a stark, bold white to distinguish them as non-Ex products, with coloured, black and white bands used to visually determine each products voltage and amp rating. Offering further clarity to their customers, and peace of mind when identifying each product, ‘non-Ex’ labels and laser marks on components have also been added.
Using aluminium as the material for the body castings of the range has created a durable and reliable alternative for those not requiring a flameproof product that is significantly lighter in comparison to AusProof’s stainless steel products, with:
- the AES plug weighing in at 560 grams lighter and the receptacle at 2.36kg lighter;
- the AS plug weighing in at 360 grams lighter and the receptacle at 3.9kg lighter; and
- the AL plugs weighing in at 1.04kg lighter and the receptacle at 4.36kg lighter.
Making the body castings of this range out of aluminium has also resulted in reduced production costs, allowing AusProof to provide the industry with an inexpensive and cost-effective alternative to stainless steel products. For non-Ex operational sites thinking of transitioning to AusProof’s aluminium range from their stainless steel range, the transition does not have to happen all at once. The transition can occur at your pace and within your budget, for the aluminium range is also compatible with products from the stainless steel range in their matching voltage and amp ratings.
Features of the plugs and receptacles in this range include phase to earth segregation, easy termination, single piece contacts, and full solid earth connectivity throughout. Receptacles can be purchased in either Jack-In Release, Quick Release or Ratchet Release options. Additionally, these products can be purchased with a durable silicon cover for the plugs and an O-ring sealed bung for the receptacles.
