The Cook Government of Western Australia has welcomed the start of construction on Quantum Filtration Medium’s new Collie $5 million manufacturing plant, after investing $2 million to get the game-changing expansion project off the ground.
Regional Development Minister Don Punch and Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns joined representatives from Quantum Filtration Medium, in July last year for the ground-breaking ceremony in the Collie Light Industrial Area where the South-West headquartered company will construct its new factory.
Once complete, the 1500-square-metre facility incorporating state-of-the-art equipment will enable Quantum Filtration Medium to supercharge production of its in-demand water filtration media.
The company will be able to operate 24-hours a day, unlocking growth opportunities through the simultaneous production of its signature DMI-65® water filtration mediaas well as new products that have been developed in a laboratory funded by the State Government, with support of Alannah MacTiernan MLC and Former Premier Mark McGowan.
The laboratory has help developed new filtration products designed for mining and industrial applications. One for the protection of reverse osmosis systems from iron fouling, and another for the safe treatment of wells and bore holes that suffer organic contamination. The laboratory is also undergoing a research and development program for treatment of forever chemicals known as PFAS and PFOS.
With the capacity to manufacture large volumes of all its products and ramp up its market presence, eight ongoing operation roles are expected to be created on top of the employment opportunities during construction, with local businesses to be used throughout the build.
Quantum Filtration Medium exports is revolutionary water filtration media known as DMI65® to 100 countries. Used for industrial and municipal drinking water plants, the novel filter media is designed for the filtration of toxic and nuisance heavy metals such as iron, manganese and arsenic.
