TLT-Turbo recently supplied a huge fan for a wind tunnel to Tongji University in Shanghai. This fan has now been successfully commissioned. With a diameter of 8.5m, this is the geometrically largest fan TLT has manufactured.
The impressive co-rotating upstream centre fairing, as well as the rotor blades, is made of fibre-composite material. The speed required for this wind tunnel within the measuring section is controlled via the variable rotational speed of the 4,000kW motor.
