MinLog has been chosen by Olympic Dam to participate in a proof-of-concept project to evaluate the use of MinLog’s unique Decentralized Store and Forward (DSF) solution for relaying data files to and from equipment.
The solution will provide amongst others for sending drill pattern files from a central server location to production drill rigs or delivering equipment files containing equipment health to the central server.
Other than the Olympic Dam Load and Haul fleet, the Drill Rigs, are not currently equipped with MineSuite’s FleetSafe on-board Field Computer Equipment (FCE). As a result, a new FCE platform, providing for a small footprint will be used to provide for DSF file transfer functionality on the Drill Rigs.
As part of this initiative MinLog and BHP Billiton will be investigating the feasibility of converting data-streams, generated by the BHP Billiton’s Datalogger devices installed on Trucks, Loaders and Drill-rigs, to files, with files communicated via DSF.
DSF is a MinLog technology providing for automated, robust and reliable data and file transfer, to and from the equipment operating in areas with limited or no Wi-Fi communications infrastructure, via a combination of other DSF enabled vehicles (including light vehicles) and selective Wi-Fi access points.
