Christer Idhammar, founder and CEO of IDCON, headquartered in Raleigh, NC, visited with US Legislators on 22-23 March in Washington DC, with the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) to lobby for Work Force Development.

The group met with office representatives of six senator’s offices.

Idhammar stated: "Much of the discussions focused on better US community colleges and cooperation with industry, changing the attitudes that you must have a college degree to be successful, increasing the status of technical colleges and making senators aware of the existing and future dramatic shortage of skilled crafts people in the reliability and maintenance professions."

SMRP promotes workforce development in the maintenance, reliability and physical asset management profession and is an advocate for a renewed focus on training and skill development. This is the second year IDCON INC participated in this important mission.

"In our work with industry, we are seeing the impact of an inadequately skilled workforce is having on reliability and maintenance," added Idhammar.
