Geotechnical engineering for the mining industry

The Halcrow geotechnical team provides ground investigation planning, implementation and geological interpretation for mine infrastructure developments and foundations.

These services include ground improvement and piling design and assessment. We can independently review geotechnical reports prepared by others.

We assess and design support systems for slopes, portal development and the use of steel sets and concrete / shotcrete. We also provide rock embankment stabilisation design.

Tunnels and underground spaces

Halcrow has an international centre of tunnelling excellence based in Australia. For mining applications we provide shaft design, including design and specification of support systems, including segmental linings, temporary works and underground excavation design.

Other services include pre-excavation and post-excavation rock mass grouting design for ground improvement, site inspections and monitoring and field advice. We also design segmental lined shafts for support of ventilation or ore haulage shafts in weak ground.
