Based in the Technology Park of Andalusia, the largest technology hub in southern Europe, TORSA supports commercial and technical operations worldwide for the development of its range of solutions aimed at meeting needs and solving common problems in various industries.
As an R&D company, TORSA has numerous success stories in many different sectors and its engineering development activity has been recognised by some of the most important companies in the industries in which it operates.
Collision avoidance system for shovels, haul trucks, auxiliary and light vehicles for the mining sector
TORSA’s high-tech products for the heavy industry have been awarded and recognised internationally. Solutions have been developed to solve daily problems in mining, civil works, distribution and fleet control and are at the forefront of the technology.
This system detects obstacles without the need for them to be metallic or have an identifier. It can detect rocks, mining fronts, berms or any obstacle that may be considered a risk using light detection and ranging (LIDAR) technology.
Similar to all TORSA solutions, a collision-avoidance system is integrated into the TORSA Cloud environment, ensuring the correct interaction, operation and technical information management for our clients.
TORSA collaborates actively with the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) where the company participates in the Innovation for Cleaner Safer Vehicles (ICSV) programme, which combines 27 of the world’s leading mining companies and technologies suppliers to collaboratively accelerate the development of a new generation of mining vehicles.
TORSA CAS solution is designed to perform at Control Levels 7, 8 and 9 according to the safety requirements based on the Innovation for Cleaner, Safer Vehicles (ICSV) programme by the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) following the Earth Moving Equipment Safety Round Table (EMESRT) where TORSA also participates defining the new ISO 21815.
Human exposure vibration monitoring solutions
TORSA vibration monitor measures and evaluates vibrations that operators of mining vehicles are exposed to, and serves as a tool for the prevention of occupational risks, reducing potential injuries that could derive from daily activities.
The vibration monitor performs real-time analysis of human exposure to vibrations and provides immediate alerts when the established safety levels exceed international regulations (UNE ISO 8041 / ISO 2631-1).
TORSA vibration monitor was the winner in the category 2020 ‘People’s Choice Award’ given by one of the largest mining companies in the world, BHP Billiton. The Anglo-Australian company recognised its value as an innovation in occupational health and safety. Its outstanding contribution to a healthier and safer working environment was also acknowledged.
TORSA technology has achieved an 80% reduction in sick leave at Antamina. The system detects and evaluates, in real-time and remotely, the vibrations to which the mine’s vehicle operators are exposed. This action allows the prevention of occupational risks, drastically reducing the number of injuries resulting from daily activities.
Industry-leading logistics solutions
TORSA’s logistics solutions are endorsed by leading global companies, which include key players in the pharmaceutical sector such as Alliance Healthcare or Pfizer-BioNTech, among others. Some of TORSA’s most prominent logistics products include Neptune and Borea.
Neptune is an industry-leading leading system for quality assurance in the shipping sector.
It aims to provide the necessary records to ensure the traceability of the supply chain of logistics distributors and wholesalers while adapting to client requirements.
The Borea system is designed for continuous logging and monitoring of temperature and humidity data, both in fixed locations and mobile equipment or vehicles. It also serves as a tool for autonomous air conditioning in warehouses.
Borea also aims to enable control of the temperature and humidity curves of stored items, as well as immediately identify when they are within the established security ranges. In addition, the system provides a traceability tool for the cold supply chain during storage and transport, complying with the guidelines and recommendations established by current regulations.
Wind farms management capabilities
In its commitment to the environment and the fight against climate change, TORSA develops, designs, and manages renewable energy facilities, wind-powered and photovoltaic parks worldwide.
TORSA takes part in every stage of the promotion, construction, and operation of a wind farm. This not only includes accounting management but also environmental monitoring. With more than 20 years of experience, the company has developed and put into operation more than 300MWs in wind energy and photovoltaic solar energy installations, mainly in Andalusia, Spain.
The company’s engineering team also comprehensively manages its participating projects, and has developed more than 100MWs of wind farms in the Litueche Commune in Region VI through its local subsidiary TORSA CHILE SA.
