With a significant, double-digit increase in turnover over the previous year, the Bielefeld-based compressor manufacturer BOGE is full of optimism for the ComVac year 2015.

After record investments in the area of research and development, the company will be presenting innovative new technology at the Hannover Messe trade fair.

In 2014, BOGE Kompressoren recorded a turnover of €120m, which equates, once again, to a significantly higher than average growth rate for this sector. These results were achieved mainly due to growth in other European countries, as well as in India and China, and an increase in turnover within Germany.

Managing director Thorsten Meier said: "We made an excellent start to 2014; the order situation abated somewhat during the last quarter of the year, but it was a successful year nonetheless."

In 2015, BOGE is aiming for a further increase in turnover, up to €130m.

Product offensive 2014/2015

The compressed air specialist invested a total of around €10m in research and development and started the year by ushering in a comprehensive product offensive, which will be clearly apparent at the Hannover Messe 2015 trade fair: BOGE began a complete relaunch of its standard products in 2014 and expanded its product spectrum to cover a new business sector, for example, with the addition of a range of nitrogen and oxygen generators.

BOGE also offers intelligent solutions that redefine communications and interactions between man and machine in the Industry 4.0 age.

Today, ‘condition monitoring’ opens up opportunities for the user-friendly operation of compressed air stations and for new business models for service provision: BOGE’s specially developed app for smartphones and tablets, which can be downloaded from app stores, allows status-orientated servicing and remote monitoring.

Furthermore, BOGE has developed a ground-breaking technical innovation, which will be unveiled as an absolute highlight at ComVac.

Director Wolf D Meier-Scheuven said: "We are proud of this new technology, which represents a significant leap forward for us."

Successful introduction of new centre of excellence

With the so-called centre of excellence for airends at BOGE Komponenten GmbH in Saxony, Germany, the company has further expanded its vertical integration: the BOGE effilence airend, the core of the compressors, has been manufactured here since October 2013, for example. The fully automated, high-precision production plant in Saxony is one of the most modern in Europe. A further €2m are to be invested in 2015, in addition to the previous investment of around €12m.

Family-friendliness and continued education in focus

BOGE maintains a family-friendly human resources policy. The compressor manufacturer is committed to flexible working hours for its staff, as well as to specialist career concepts and continuing education models. The already established ‘BOGE Talent Scout’ programme of continuing education for promoting junior staff took place again in 2014, this time in the form of an ‘International Summer Camp’, whereby all of BOGE’s subsidiaries had the chance to enter qualified candidates.

Nine participants from various countries took part in the one-week event in Bielefeld.

"With our ‘International Summer Camp’, we were able to take a big step towards meeting our targets of offering our staff qualified professional education, while further strengthening our global network and links with our Bielefeld headquarters", Meier added.
