Application-matched drivelines
Our drivelines are designed to be rugged and hardwearing to withstand the toughest mine environments. With a large number of sizes available and a wide RPM operating range, we can provide driveline and driveshaft components for almost any application.
GKN Rockford’s attention to detail is showcased in our driveshafts; we ensure our products are precision-balanced to eliminate vibration, and all components are created specifically for the optimum requirements of each u-joint size.
Our range of driveshafts includes:
- Conventional: available from 2C up to 15C
- EC – maintenance-free c-type/wing style: incorporating quick-disconnect u-joints from 5C up to 15C
- ER – maintenance-free (SAE round): with round bearings u-joints, available from 410R up to 810R
High-performance fan clutches
GKN Rockford has been designing and manufacturing fan clutches for over 25 years, and has refined the technology to create hard-wearing components that are ideal for off-highway applications. Our fan clutches are designed with fuel consumption, noise, engine life and productivity in mind.
Our fan clutches utilise our unique variable speed technology, which enables them to vary the fan speed in response to the needs of the engine. This technology translates into lower fuel consumption, making it a valuable addition to any mining vehicle.
GKN Rockford offers fan clutches for engines with 400hp to 4,000hp that use cooling fans from 10hp to 300hp. Many of our fan clutches have been designed to meet the needs of off-highway applications including mining.
Hydraulic shift clutches and power dividers
GKN Rockford’s hydraulic products are designed using our slipping clutch technology, which has been developed over many years. We focus on producing products that meet the specific demands of our customers, so all of our range has been developed with industry use in mind. While our products are often application-specific, they are used in a wide variety of industries.
Our powershift hydraulic clutches are equipped with an internal oil transfer feature to significantly reduce plate wear. This feature, which is unique to GKN Rockford products, keeps oil continuously flowing through the clutch even when it is disengaged.
GKN Rockford’s power dividers split power into two outputs, allowing an automatic or powershift transmission to be run simultaneously with a driveshaft-driven device. This feature has a wealth of different applications, and although it was initially developed for airport rescue fire fighting vehicles, it has since been used in a wide range of industries.
Torque converters for engines up to 1,400hp
The torque converters we offer are designed to offer superior performance, a long service life and simplified maintenance. We produce dry and wet housing converters, for lower and higher horsepower applications respectively.
GKN Rockford’s dry housing torque converters are suitable for engines with 30hp to 130hp, and can be adapted for different flywheel configurations. Our wet housing converters are designed for heavy-duty applications. In addition to features such as a gear-tooth input drive, the converters work with up to 1,400hp engines.
