Aerobelt, a provider of air-supported conveyors, has recorded three significant new orders in the last two months from Joe White Maltings, BHP Billiton’s Worsley Alumina and Rio Tinto.
The first order is a repeat of a system of malt plant conveyors for Joe White Maltings’ new plant being built at Minto, NSW.
“There are eleven conveyors of various lengths,” said Steve Kutassy, general manager, Aerobelt. “They are all stainless steel, are 1,000mm wide – of around 420m in length in total – and include appropriate supporting steelwork. We first supplied an identical system in Perth in 2005 for the same customer.”
The second order is for a series of conveyors and weighing systems for Worsley Alumina for transport of alumina hydrate used in alumina production.
“These are 650mm-wide conveyors and convey up to 300t/hr of alumina hydrate. The order was placed by Bechtel on behalf of BHP Billiton, and is part of a major expansion project at the site,” said Mr Kutassy. “This order is additional to another major contract for the same company we have almost completed for alumina conveyors and associated equipment.”
Aerobelt first supplied a hydrate conveyor to Worsley in 2002, and the operation has since purchased another four conveyors from Aerobelt similar to the first system.
Aerobelt’s third order was the latest in a series of conveyors for Rio Tinto’s new iron ore shipping terminal at Cape Lambert in W.A. “This is our eleventh conveyor for the same site and it is wanted in around six weeks,” said Mr Kutassy. “We quoted the equipment on a Monday and received the order the following Friday of the same week.”
The contract was received by Aerobelt through the Perth-based company Enerflex Environmental, which is responsible for processing the collected dust from the ship loading system at the port.
