TEKNE presents its newly born vehicle, Graelion, available from early 2019.
Graelion is a multipurpose 4×4 7.5t heavy-duty chassis cab, designed and manufactured in TEKNE, which can be installed for a variety of uses. Versions are available for mining/construction, with trilateral tipper bodies, ampliroll, cranes, aerial platforms, fire fighting, ambulance, civil protection, waster compactor, salt spreader/snowplough and many more besides, obviously, the chassis cab version available to fitters.
Graelion is the result of 30 years of TEKNE experience in the field of industrial and special vehicles, and it is also the first vehicle of the Italian company belonging to a sector, the 7.5t, which is interesting for offroad uses of particular need: it is in fact perfect for situations in which compactness and scope are both decisive factors for customer choice.
Let’s start from dimensions: available in two versions either with a total mass of 7,500kg or 6,000kg, its wheelbase ranges from 3,000mm to 4,250mm. Its width is 2,020mm and total height 2575mm. It is equipped with 335 / 80R20 tires for the 7.5t and 275 / 80R20 for the 6t.
The cab, single or double, semi-advanced, is made with an electro-galvanized steel sheet structure of high structural strength. Robustness is also ensured by the frame made of special steel with high elastic limit.
The engine is a 3l diesel turbo FPT and 175hp (129kW), with a torque of 430Nm at 1,600rpm and with emissions complying with the Euro 6 step C standard (Euro3 version available as well).
The transmission is available both in the six-speed manual (Iveco / Zf) version and in the automatic version with torque converter (Allison).
The transfer case, designed by TEKNE, has two speed ranges, for road or off-road use, electro-pneumatic drive and various power take-offs (PTO); it also has the predisposition for a possible external radiator and a super-reducer for uses that require speeds of a few hundred meters per hour.
The 7.5t version Graelion has portal axles, designed in TEKNE, with final reduction to the hubs; this solution allows a height from the ground of over 450mm, increasing agility in off-road applications. Also important is the capacity on the axles which, in the 7.5 ton version, is 4,000kg on the front and 5,000kg on the rear.
Thanks to its versatility, its characteristics and the many possibilities of preparation, Graelion naturally promises to be the indispensable tool for public and private operators in cross-cutting uses, from the yard to the forest, to public maintenance and support in areas that are difficult to access.
