Globally, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 have reached over 48,215,000 with over 1,227,000 deaths and 31,958,000 recoveries.

Across the globe the daily confirmed Covid-19 cases continue to climb, with the US, India, and Brazil remaining as the top three most heavily affected countries.

The US has seen record highs in daily confirmed cases, with states such as, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota reporting sharp increases.

Brazil as the worst hit area in Latin America, has seen an overall decrease in new cases and deaths since August.

However, with the second worst death toll worldwide, Brazil’s response to the pandemic has been criticized for being too relaxed.

After a recent surge in new cases in Slovakia, the country began a mass-screening programme aimed at testing every adult in the country.

This programme intends to slow the spread of infection, without the need for a total national lockdown.
