Torque Metals has closed the acquisition of a package of tenements called the Penzance Exploration Camp, in Western Australia’s (WA) Goldfields.
The new tenement consolidation spans 800km², comprising 12 wholly owned mining licences, four prospecting licences and 26 exploration licences.
This move places Torque Metals in proximity to established producers and explorers, enhancing its competitive position in the region.
Torque has also commenced an RC drill campaign at the New Dawn Lithium Project, aiming to expand the known spodumene lithium deposits.
During its due diligence, Torque conducted around 7,000m of drilling, which yielded high-grade lithium results, with a peak grade of 3.99% Li2O. This discovery has set the stage for further exploration and development of the project.
The New Dawn Lithium Project is set to undergo approximately 5,000m of drilling to extend the significant spodumene lithium pegmatites identified in recent explorations.
The campaign's objective is to expand the mineral-rich zones to the north, south and west, building upon Torque's recent findings.
In addition to the RC drilling, Torque plans to undertake 1,000m of diamond drilling.
It will focus on high-grade spodumene areas to gain insights into the lode's continuity, geometry and structure.
The diamond drilling will also provide samples for metallurgical testing and probe for additional mineralisation at depth and along strike, following the RC drilling programme's completion.
Torque managing director Cristian Moreno said: “We are pleased to announce the completion of the acquisition of the Penzance tenement package, encompassing the New Dawn Lithium Project, strategically located 600m west of the active Bald Hill Lithium mine in WA.
“Torque’s extensive Penzance Exploration Camp is near to industry-leading producers: Mineral Resources, Gold Fields, Karora Resources and explorers such as Kali Metals and Lunnon Metals, showcasing Torque's prime location and significant asset potential.
“Torque has moved swiftly to initiate a post-acquisition drilling campaign at New Dawn, focused on extending the scale of spodumene lithium pegmatites encountered in our recent drilling.
“These pegmatites can potentially be extended in multiple directions according to Torque’s geological model. Torque's acquisition and ongoing exploration activities solidify its position as a key player in this dynamic exploration province, with steady exploration news flow expected over the coming months.”
