Rare earths: new issue of MINE now!

In this issue: Unleashing the Arctic's mineral potential, why miners are diversifying into recycling, unearthing value with blockchain and AI, and more.

Caroline Peachey January 23 2025

Donald Trump’s return to the White House this week has already resulted in a flurry of activity, with the 47th US President signing several executive orders.

Among many headline actions, his directive to “unleash American energy” outlines a path to establish the US as “the leading producer and processor of non-fuel minerals”, including rare earth elements.

In the February 2025 issue of MINE magazine, we look at the rare earth production landscape – currently monopolised by China – and opportunities for rare earth projects in the Arctic.

With Greenland in the spotlight following Trump’s takeover threats, we ask whether this momentum can be used to kick-start mining in the territory.

Plus, we investigate why mining majors are making moves in the mineral and metals recycling sector.

In tech, we assess how AI and blockchain, used in tandem, can support ethical minerals supply.

We also discuss the emergence of AI-powered ore sorting and explore how satellites can support mine site safety on remote or hard-to-reach mine sites.
