Australian construction and mining services provider NRW Holdings subsidiary Golding Contractors has entered a A$1.6bn ($1.07bn) MSA in Queensland.

Golding signed the MSA with Stanmore SMC for services at the South Walker Creek (SWC) Mine in central Queensland. The five-year agreement will begin in January 2026.

The comprehensive agreement encompasses the operation and maintenance of eight fleets of heavy mining equipment, consistent with existing contractual terms.

This equipment will be used to remove overburden and extract steel-making coal.

Assets utilised for this project are part of Golding Contractors' inventory, acquired through the HSE Mining SWC contract completed on 1 August 2024.

The mining services agreement is not only significant in terms of value but also for its impact on local employment.

It ensures job security for nearly 650 personnel, with the majority residing in the region.

NRW CEO Jules Pemberton said: “I am delighted to announce that NRW has been awarded this contract with Stanmore, allowing us to build on the successful relationship we have had with Stanmore over a long period.

“NRW’s drilling and blasting subsidiary ADB is currently working with Stanmore at SWC and Golding now renews its prior association. With the addition of the SWC MSA, NRW’s order book climbs to a record $7bn. I look forward to a successful partnership with Stanmore.”

Earlier this month, NRW received a surface mining contract worth A$360m from Evolution Mining (Mungari), a wholly owned subsidiary of Evolution Mining, for the Castle Hill project in Western Australia.

The contract's scope included load and haul, drill and blast operations, along with the construction of supporting facilities on-site.

Action Drill & Blast, which is part of NRW, has been tasked with conducting the drill and blast operations.
