Metallis announces Greyhound property exploration plans

The efforts are expected to inform drill targeting for a subsequent phase 2 programme later in the 2024 season.

Metallis Resources has commenced its phase 1 exploration programme at the Greyhound property, a high-grade silver, gold and antimony project in Idaho, US.

This initiative marks the first fieldwork since the property's acquisition, with activities set to start in early July.

The exploration programme has been designed with two primary objectives – to delineate high-grade mineralised shoots at historic showings and to discover new high-grade mineralisation zones along the 3.6km Greyhound shear zone.

These efforts are expected to inform drill targeting for a subsequent phase 2 programme later in the 2024 season.

The Greyhound property will undergo rock sampling, geological mapping and trenching to define drill targets at several historic sites.

Rock sampling aims to verify historically reported anomalous silver and gold grades, while channel sampling will determine the extent and dimensions of the mineralisation.

Around 1,000 soil samples will be collected across the property to ascertain the location and continuity of the mineralised shear.

This step is crucial for identifying new mineralised zones, especially since large areas of the property are covered with overburden and remain untested.

Metallis Resources also plans to conduct rock physical property testing to optimise the planning of a comprehensive geophysical survey.

Before selecting the most suitable geophysical methods, the team will evaluate the physical properties of samples from various parts of the property.

Metallis Resources president and CEO Fiore Aliperti said: “Our team's highest priority for this phase 1 programme is to firm up drill targets at several existing sites that have demonstrated economic grades from historic mining.

“Concurrently, we hope to identify new mineralisation along this underexplored 3.6km trend that has seen significant silver/gold mineralisation exploited historically.

“We are excited to be utilising modern exploration techniques for the first time on the property whilst applying our technical knowledge developing drill-ready targets rapidly and efficiently.”
