Metallis Resources has initiated the first phase of its field exploration programme at the Greyhound property in Idaho, US.

Known for its historical silver, gold and antimony mining, this property is undergoing a comprehensive evaluation by the company's geological team.

The focus is on assessing known mineralised zones and discovering new areas of high-grade mineralisation.

Metallis said its exploration team is employing modern technologies including a portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer to facilitate immediate on-site analysis.

This is complemented by traditional methods such as rock and soil sampling, geological mapping and trenching.

The insights gained from the current programme will inform a drilling campaign planned for the later part of the 2024 season.

In February 2024, Metallis secured an option to acquire a full interest in the Greyhound property from Greyhound Mining & Milling.

Located in Custer County, around 42km north-west of Stanley, Idaho, the property was the hub of a silver mining camp in the early 1900s.

The Greyhound Mine saw a brief period of mining activity from 1980 to 1991, with the last ore shipment to a smelter occurring in 2000. Since then, the property has remained largely unexplored.

Metallis president and CEO Fiore Aliperti said: “Exploration efforts will focus on both existing sites with historic mining activity and underexplored areas which offer the potential of new exploration targets.

“We are well-prepared to leverage our technical expertise and apply modern exploration methods to advance our understanding of the Greyhound property’s mineral potential.”
