Leviathan Gold's wholly owned subsidiary, Leviathan Gold (Australia), has received a permit for a new exploration licence (EL), EL 7937, in Victoria, Australia.

Covering a 19km² area, the licence has been awarded by the Victorian Government's Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action.

It covers the former Queen's Birthday Mine, which reportedly produced approximately 118,000oz of gold at a grade of 19.1g/t Au.

In a press statement, Leviathan Gold said: “Archival records further suggest that production was from a southward-plunging ore shoot and that this remains open along strike, to depth and with potential for structural repeats.

“This occurrence has never been explored by modern means and as such presents a significant, high-grade exploration opportunity.”

The Queen's Birthday Mine has not been subject to drilling work within the area since the mid-1980s.

Leviathan is undertaking work to obtain, compile and interpret historical exploration reports for the mine, which is located adjacent to its existing Racecourse Reef exploration licence EL 7295.

Leviathan Gold CEO Luke Norman said: "Securing tenure to Queen's Birthday is a significant development for Leviathan in terms of upgrading its exploration pipeline in Victoria.

“This new exploration licence provides the company with ready, open and accessible drill targets immediately beneath and along strike from historic high-grade workings that have seen in excess of 100,000oz of gold production and yet despite this have never been explored by modern, systematic means.

“We are actively compiling all available historic data and expect to announce a work programme at the property in the near term.”
