Swedish equipment manufacturer Epiroc has agreed to acquire the remaining 66% interest in US-based company ASI Mining for an undisclosed sum.

Having previously acquired a 34% stake in 2018, Epiroc is now poised to take full ownership.

Headquartered in Mendon, Utah, ASI Mining is a subsidiary of Autonomous Solutions.

ASI Mining provides mining automation systems, which include remote control, teleoperation, and fully autonomous solutions.

Notably, its technology is OEM-agnostic, compatible with various machine brands, and is particularly advantageous for mixed equipment fleets.

Epiroc expects the integration of ASI Mining's solutions to bolster mine safety and productivity, simultaneously reducing emissions and the total cost of operation.

ASI Mining generated revenues of around Skr300m ($28.2m) last year.

Epiroc president and CEO Helena Hedblom said: “Epiroc and the innovative team at ASI Mining are already collaborating closely to bring the most advanced automation solutions to mining customers.

“We look forward to complementing their solutions fully with our offering and together continue supporting customers on their automation journey.”

Subject to regulatory approval by US competition authorities, the transaction is anticipated to close in the third quarter of 2024.

Last year, Byrnecut selected Epiroc to deliver underground mining trucks to deliver underground mining trucks for the Kathleen Valley lithium mine in Western Australia.

These mining trucks will feature Epiroc’s telematics system, Certiq, which allows operators to have intelligent real-time monitoring of machine performance and productivity.

The company will also provide parts and service support, including on-site service technicians.
