Argyle Resources has announced the acquisition of three silica projects in Quebec, Canada.

The company has secured a 100% interest in the Matapedia, Lac Comporte and Pilgrim Island Quartzite Silica projects from Charlevoix Silica, with the transaction comprising C$150,000 ($109,786) and the issuance of 750,000 common shares of Argyle.

The Matapedia silica property spans 912.8 hectares (ha) and is situated 36km from Grand-Métis, offering easy access via municipal roads. The site's proximity to silica, limestone and aluminous claystones presents a unique opportunity for industrial applications.

Additionally, the local port and railway infrastructure enhance the property's potential for exporting minerals to the Great Lakes and eastern US markets.

Lac Comporte Project, covering 1,945ha, is located in the Charlevoix-Est region, while the Pilgrim Islands Project covers 810ha in the regional county municipality of Kamouraska.

To fully assess the mineral potential of these properties, Argyle will partner with the National Institute of Scientific Research (INRS) to conduct an exploration campaign.

The planned activities include geophysical surveys, geological mapping, and various sampling and analytical studies such as X-ray fluorescence.

INRS, renowned for its research and training capabilities, will be led by Marc Richer-Laflèche, who brings expertise in geological and geophysical analysis, particularly for industrial-grade silica projects.

The INRS team is well-equipped with portable gas analysers, sampling tools and the necessary logistics to carry out comprehensive fieldwork both on land and in aquatic environments.

Argyle Resources CEO Jeff Stevens said: “Argyle Resources was purpose built to explore and identify prospective assets in the critical metals space.

“Acquiring the Matapedia, Lac Comporte and Pilgrim Island Quartzite Silica projects in Quebec to complement our graphite exploration property, Frenchvale Graphite in Nova Scotia, provides our shareholders with exposure to two strategic critical metals.”
