The discussions between Rio Tinto and Glencore did not progress beyond the initial stages.
This deal involves the sale of the San Jose Mine in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, which is fully owned by Cuzcatlan.
The California facility is projected to produce up to 20,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of lithium hydroxide.
This project aims to enhance production capacity and introduce gallium into industrial production for the first time.
This contract is set to be signed in March and will be effective for ten years.
The funding will support phase one construction of the SWA project with a production capacity of 22,500 tonnes (t).
Production will fall from key producers of nickel such as Russia (-6.5%) and Australia (-12.8%)
The property consists of 87 claims covering approximately 4,400 hectares (ha) in the Abitibi sub-province of north-western Quebec.
