Valmec has secured a new construction contract from Newmont Goldcorp Services for infrastructure works associated with its proposed Tanami Expansion 2 (TE 2) project in Australia.
The TE 2 project is located 540km north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. It is an underground gold mine capable of producing more than 496,000 referred ounces of gold per annum.
The $5m (A$6m) contract is the first step in Valmec’s strategy to improve further growth in gas and infrastructure sectors in Australia.
Valmec managing director Steve Dropulich said: “We are pleased to be able to announce our latest awarded contract with Newmont Goldcorp’s Australian operations and look forward to supporting them on their proposed TE 2 project.
“Having recently completed gas construction and pipeline testing works on behalf of AGIG on Newmont Goldcorp’s Tanami Power Project, Valmec looks forward to continuing its relationship with Newmont and its Tanami operations.”
The contract is expected to start after the completion of the majority of the works, which are expected to be concluded by November.
