CIMIC Group affiliate Thiess has secured a A$185m ($143.04m) contract to provide additional mining services at multinational mining and metals firm BHP’s Mount Arthur Coal operation in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia.

The latest contract is valid for a 15-month term and builds on the company’s existing relationship with BHP.

Thiess has been engaged in providing load and haul services at Mt Arthur since December 2016 and new contract is expected to expand the scope of the company’s operations at the site.

Additionally, Thiess provides mining services at three mines in the Hunter Valley, where it also operates two maintenance workshops.

Anglo American previously awarded a A$190m ($146.91m) contract extension to Thiess earlier this month to continue the provision of mining services at Dawson South in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, Australia.
