Selwyn Resources has received an environmental permit to reopen the ScoZinc mine near Gays River in Canada from the Environmental Department of Nova Scotia.
As part of the approval, the firm must protect surface water, groundwater, wetlands and wildlife at the lead and zinc operations, reports TheChronicleHerald.ca.

Selwyn Resources will secure financing for the project, which includes raising $30m through a bond issue.
The firm is also planning to test the pit dewatering system at the mine and apply for an industrial permit this month.
Selwyn Resources’ vice-president Joe Ringwald said that once the test is successful, the firm will appeal for approval to begin the pit dewatering.
