Acron Group subsidiary North Atlantic Potash has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Rio Tinto to carry out potash exploration activities in Canada.

Under the agreement, the potash permit holdings of North Atlantic Potash, which are located in the southern part of Saskatchewan’s potash district, will be explored and a potash mine will be constructed.

The JV has planned an extensive exploration programme, which will cover nine permitted areas that extend south-east from the eastern shore of Last Mountain Lake to Broadview.

North Atlantic Potash CEO David Waugh said the JV will expand the firm’s resource base knowledge in additional permitted areas, leveraging the land and holdings, while advancing the potash development strategy.
