Katanga SPRL has received a mining services contract for the development of the pit cut-back at the Dikulushi copper-silver project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The $50m contract was awarded by the Mawson West, following its results of a positive feasibility study supporting the development of the pit cut-back.
The Dikulushi cut-back project is expected to start commercial production in mid-2012 and is estimated to produce a total of 29,000tof copper and 2.8Moz of silver in concentrate for a period of 12 to 14 months.
The contract will be funded through Mawson West’s existing cash reserves and cash flow from operations.
The Dikulushi processing plant is currently processing a low-grade stockpile, which is expected to be completed in December.
