Eleven mine workers have been killed after a coal mine collapsed in China’s Shaanxi province.
AP reported Yulin city’s propaganda department saying that the miners were believed to be found a day after the Liujiamao coal mine collapsed.
The cause of the incident has yet to be determined. The remaining 49 miners working at the mine ran from the scene when it collapsed.
Following the accident, rescuers tried to improve ventilation at the mine.
However, the effort was hampered by a high-concentration of poisonous gas at the site.
According to rescuers, the mine collapse occurred due to a cavity that was created by the extraction of coal.
