Aureus Mining has restarted gold producing operations at the New Liberty Gold Mine in Liberia following a temporary suspension caused by a mechanical failure within the secondary crusher.
In order to bring back the crusher into operation, the company installed a temporary mobile crushing unit to be retained on-site for a period of six months.
The company plans to retain the crusher in a bid to provide additional operational flexibility at the time of final testing and commissioning phase of the plant.
Sourced in-country, the new mobile crusher has a 200t per hour capacity and is sufficient to supply the New Liberty ball mill, which runs at a designed feed rate of 146t of run of mine (ROM) ore per hour.
The company also engaged specialists from DRA Mineral Projects and technicians from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the crusher to complete repair works.
Aureus Mining president and CEO David Reading said: "I am pleased to announce that gold processing operations have recommenced at the New Liberty Gold Mine and we are now looking forward to declaring commercial production in January 2016.
