Barminco has received an extension to its underground mining contract with Regis Resources at the Duketon Operations, which include the Rosemont and Garden Well underground mines, in Western Australia (WA).
The alliance-style agreement provides both parties with long-term clarity and assurance.
Perenti, the parent company of Barminco, announced on 2 April 2024 that the initial contract had a three-year term with a rolling 12-month extension mechanism.
Perenti president of contract mining Gabrielle Iwanow said: “Having recently visited both Garden Well and Rosemont to spend time with the team and see the quality of operations, I am pleased that Regis and Barminco have agreed to extending the alliance for an additional year.
“Regis is one of Australia’s leading gold producers and we have developed a strong working relationship with them at their Duketon Operations. Barminco was proudly founded in Western Australia, and we continue to work closely with our clients around the world and here at home to deliver certainty and value.”
The extended contract, valued at approximately A$180m, adds 12 months to the agreement, extending it until 30 March 2028.

Perenti managing director and CEO Mark Norwell said, “We strongly believe that collaborative and long-term client relationships create enduring value. The Barminco and Regis alliance agreement enables a framework for value creation and planning certainty for both parties.
“We are very pleased and appreciative to extend this agreement for another year and look forward to continuing to work with Regis.”
The Duketon Gold Project is situated in the North Eastern Goldfields of WA, around 130km north of Laverton.
The project area consists of three operating centres: the Garden Well Mine, Rosemont open-pit mine and Moolart Well Gold Mine.
Regis Resources is working on several projects at different stages of assessment across Duketon, investigating potential feed sources for processing.
There is potential for several additional open pits, including Tooheys Well, Baneygo, Ben Hur and Russell’s Find.
Drilling for resources has highlighted the possibility of underground opportunities at Garden Well, extending beyond the existing Garden Well South underground operation, as well as at Baneygo and Gloster.
