Azincourt Energy has received the necessary permits to commence exploration drilling at the Snegamook uranium project, its newly acquired mineral claim block in the Central Mineral Belt of the Newfoundland and Labrador province in Canada.
This decision follows historical drilling that identified shallow-dipping uranium lenses with uranium oxide (U₃O₈) grades reaching up to 0.11%.
Azincourt Energy’s 2025 work programme will include site reconnaissance, assessment of historical drill core and up to 1km of diamond drilling supported by helicopter.
The aim is to confirm and expand known uranium mineralisation, particularly within the Snegamook Zone and the unnamed showing to the south.
The company’s exploration activities will be backed by a temporary work camp, with equipment and supplies staged from Happy Valley – Goose Bay, laround 100km to the south.
The reconnaissance phase is scheduled for June, with diamond drilling planned for late summer to early fall.
The Snegamook project, strategically located near the Two Time Zone deposit, spans 423ha with 17 contiguous claims.
Previous drilling at the site has identified four mineralised lenses with a strike length of 300m and a vertical depth of 200m.
The mineralisation, associated with hydrothermal alteration, seems to be structurally controlled within lineaments that cross-cut the host intrusive gneissic units.
Despite disruptions by steeply dipping fault structures to the south, the zones remain open to the north.
Azincourt Energy Exploration vice-president Trevor Perkins said: “We are excited to get on the ground at Snegamook and begin to expand this deposit.
“The project has great potential, and historical work has just given a hint of what may be in store for us to discover.”
In October 2024, Azincourt Energy signed an option agreement to acquire the Snegamook project from BR Corporation.
