Western Potash has completed a prefeasibility study (PFS) on the Milestone project in southern Saskatchewan, Canada.
According to the PFS, conducted by AMEC Americas, the project will support primary and secondary solution mining for more than 40 years at a production rate of 2.8 million tons a year.
The study included all facilities required for operating the mine, including a cavern and well field layout and a two-train multiple effect evaporisation-crystallisation plant.
It also included a dry processing plant, product storage facilities, load-out facilities and other necessary site infrastructure at the project.
The initial CAPEX for the plant is estimated to be C$2.75bn (US$2.58bn), including the port infrastructure, water supply pipeline off site railway allowances.
The projects consists of 64 million tons of measured resource, 180 million tons of indicated resource, and 701 million tons of inferred resource.
