P&H Joy Mining Equipment is planning to set up a $25m manufacturing and servicing facility in West Bengal, India.
The facility will be constructed in a 25-acre area in an industrial park being set up by Bengal Aerotropolis Projects.
The first phase of the project, which involves installing a fabrication unit for mechanical structurals, is expected to be commissioned by 2013. Initially, the company will manufacture the smallest machines in its catalogue. In the second phase, it will begin manufacturing transmission equipment and the third phase will involve production of electrical parts.
The firm is yet to finalise the investment plan for the second and third phases of the project.
P&H Joy Mining Equipment is a subsidiary of US-based Joy Global, which provides surface and underground mining equipment.
P&H will also provide a smart services satellite-based system based on Prevail, a proprietary software for remote real-time monitoring of mining equipment. The service has been developed by Joy Global, reports the Economic Times.
