Water firm Osmoflo has been selected to provide operations and maintenance support to Glencore’s Oaky Creek coal mine in central Queensland, Australia.
The Oaky Creek complex comprises Oaky No.1, Oaky North underground mine and surface operations.

Under the contract, Osmoflo will provide the services supported by remote monitoring through a control centre, along with process engineering support and reporting to balance the water demand, as well as availability on-site.
Osmoflo national service and operations manager Mike Shortt said: "By optimising the plant reliability and performance through our operations and maintenance support, Glencore can focus on the operation of the mine itself.
"Osmoflo offer operations and maintenance to our own plants, but also offer this same service to existing plants from alternative providers, as seen in this instance."
Located between the mining towns of Tieri and Middlemount, Oaky Creek coal mine consists of two underground operations and a coal preparation plant.
The mine produces two volatile coking coals that are exported through eastern seaports in Mackay and Gladstone to Japan, Asia, Europe, North Africa, and South America.
Oaky Creek is a joint venture between Glencore (55%), Sumisho Coal Australia (25%), Itochu Coal Resources Australia (15%) and ICRA (10%).
The company is also offering on-site manning, process support, consumables and long-term services across Glencore’s network of nationwide sites.
