Nippon Dragon Resources has signed a distribution agreement with Safescape for its thermal fragmentation mining method in various contracts and mining operations.
Under the agreement, the patented method will be distributed throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The distribution agreement will see the granting of the exclusive rights to Safescape for the usage, distribution, training and marketing of the method.
Safescape also plans to use the mining method to facilitate the installation of its Laddertube escapeway system, which has been designed for use in underground mines, specifically.
The durable polyethylene Laddertube is fully-enclosed, which protects it against impact from water, salt or other mineral deposits. In addition the Laddertube requires minimal upkeep, and fits well within a 1m / 42in opening.
Nippon will manufacture and deliver two thermal fragmentation units, known as Mini-Dragons, to Safescape premises in Forrestfield, Western Australia.

Safescape managing director Steve Durkin said: "I quickly realised that this versatile and innovative mining method is a solution needed by the mining industry in order to reduce costs, increase productivity and contribute to a safer workplace.
"I intend to use this innovative technology not only for regular stoping and mining development services but also for creating 1m diameter openings in order to install our manway and escapeway systems in lieu of using raiseboring or conventional raise blasting methods."
