Graphite exploration and development company Alabama Graphite has identified multiple strong electromagnetic (EM) conductors at its Coosa Graphite project in Alabama, US, following recent surveys.

The recent heliborne geophysical surveys included time-domain electromagnetic (TDEM), magnetic (MAG) and spectrometric (SPEC) surveys, and the preliminary results confirmed the conductors.

Alabama Graphite exploration vice-president Dr Douglas Oliver said the company’s geophysical survey has uncovered multiple strong EM conductors associated with magnetic lows that represent new opportunities for exploration.

"We see these newly defined targets as having the potential to significantly upgrade the company’s resource."

"We see these newly defined targets as having the potential to significantly upgrade the company’s resource," Oliver said.

Recently, Alabama Graphite’s geologists have surveyed the property and conducted more than 100 samples at or near-surface that revealed significant high-grade crystal flake graphite.

Also, of the various surveys conducted, the TDEM survey is the most important and it suggests that the resource remains open to the south-east, north-east and south-west.

"The correlation of these preliminary results with a known resource of flake graphite is an important step forward for Alabama Graphite," Oliver added.

Coosa Graphite project comprises more than 14,000 acres of land in Alabama that has been producing graphite from 1900 and through the 1950s.
