North America extended its dominance for internet of things (IoT) hiring among mining industry companies in the three months ending February.
The number of roles in North America made up 49.1% of total IoT jobs – up from 29.7% in the same quarter last year.
That was followed by South & Central America, which saw a -2.7 year-on-year percentage point change in IoT roles.
The figures are compiled by GlobalData, who track the number of new job postings from key companies in various sectors over time. Using textual analysis, these job advertisements are then classified thematically.

The fastest growing country was the United States, which saw 24.9% of all IoT job adverts in the three months ending February 2021, increasing to 35.7% in the three months ending February this year.
That was followed by Canada (up 7.5 percentage points), Mexico (1.1), and China (0.9).

Which cities are the biggest hubs for IoT workers in the mining industry?
Some 8.4% of all mining industry IoT roles were advertised in Vancouver (Canada) in the three months ending February.
That was followed by Atlanta (United States) with 8.4%, Longview (United States) with 5.4%, and Belo Horizonte (Brazil) with 3.4%.
