November 2021 has seen an increase of 5.5% in the overall hiring activity when compared with October 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.55% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2021, registering an increase of 0.19% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 48.11% in November 2021, a 14.1% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 21.08% in November 2021, marking an 85.71% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 14.05% in November 2021, a 7.14% drop from October 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 58.33% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s mining industry during November 2021 over previous month.
Nucor posted 34 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered an increase of 9.68% over the previous month, followed by Harsco with 30 jobs and a flat growth. Tronox with 13 IT jobs and RTI International Metals with 10 jobs, recorded a 225% rise and a 60% drop, respectively, while Rio Tinto recorded a flat growth with 8 job postings during November 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s mining industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with an 84.86% share in November 2021, a 23.62% increase over October 2021. Canada featured next with a 14.59% share, down 3.57% over the previous month. France recorded a 0.54% share, a flat growth compared with October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 52.97%, up by 11.36% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 30.81% share, registered a growth of 23.91% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 16.22% share, up 36.36% over October 2021.
