April 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.03% in the overall hiring activity when compared with March 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.61% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2022, registering an increase of 0.09% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 48.47% in April 2022, a 3.66% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 14.72% in April 2022, marking a 4.35% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 13.5% in April 2022, a 31.25% drop from March 2022.

Top five mining companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 6.38% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s mining industry during April 2022 over previous month.
RTI International Metals posted 24 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered an increase of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by Nucor with 22 jobs and a 69.23% growth. Teck Coal with 18 IT jobs and Teck Resources with 12 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 36.84% drop, respectively, while Freeport-McMoRan recorded a 53.85% decline with 12 job postings during April 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s mining industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 74.23% share in April 2022, a 1.68% increase over March 2022. Canada featured next with a 25.77% share, down 28.81% over the previous month. recorded a flat share, a flat growth compared with March 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.99%, down by 16.98% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 28.83% share, registered a growth of 23.68% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 17.18% share, down 17.65% over March 2022.
