IT jobs accounted for a 6.24% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2022, registering a decrease of 0.28% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 50% in November 2022, a 2.7% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 23.61% in November 2022, marking a 32% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 12.5% in November 2022, a 60.87% drop from October 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 25.64% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s mining industry during November 2022 over previous month.
Rio Tinto posted 15 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered an increase of 650% over the previous month, followed by TTP with 10 jobs and a flat growth. Elval with 9 IT jobs and Voestalpine with 8 jobs, recorded a 40% drop and a 100% rise, respectively, while En++ Group recorded a 61.11% decline with 7 job postings during November 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s mining industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 40.28% share in November 2022, a 480% increase over October 2022. Russia featured next with a 19.44% share, down 64.1% over the previous month. Greece recorded a 12.5% share, a drop of 47.06% compared with October 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.78%, down by 34.88% from October 2022. Entry Level positions with an 11.11% share, registered a growth of 33.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 9.72% share, down 36.36% over October 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.39%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
