December 2021 has seen a decrease of 5.87% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 5.23% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering a decrease of 0.15% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 53.47% in December 2021, a 5.26% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 19.8% in December 2021, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 10.89% in December 2021, a 175% rise from November 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 4.76% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s mining industry during December 2021 over previous month.
Polyus posted 25 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a decline of 16.67% over the previous month, followed by ThyssenKrupp with 19 jobs and a 32.14% drop. En+ Group with 13 IT jobs and Voestalpine with 12 jobs, recorded an 18.18% rise and a 140% rise, respectively, while Anglo American recorded a 10% increase with 11 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s mining industry
Russia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 38.61% share in December 2021, a 7.14% decrease over November 2021. Germany featured next with a 22.77% share, up 21.05% over the previous month. The UK recorded a 13.86% share, a drop of 17.65% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.33%, down by 8.11% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 22.77% share, registered a growth of 43.75% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.9% share, up 42.86% over November 2021.
