The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.82% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.
Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.39% share in February 2022, recording a decrease of 0.14% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s mining industry’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s mining industry in February 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 48% in February 2022, registering a 40% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 20% share, a decrease of 37.5% over the previous month.
3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 12%, registering a 76.92% decline from January 2022.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 12%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five mining companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 32.35% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s mining industry during February 2022 over January 2022.
Teck Coal posted 10 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a drop of 28.57% over the previous month, followed by Teck Resources with 9 jobs and a 50% drop. Kinross Gold with 2 IT jobs and ThyssenKrupp with 1 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Anglo American recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during February 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 56%, down by 51.72% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 36% share, registered an increase of 28.57% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8% share, down 75% over January 2022.
