December 2021 has seen a decrease of 13.28% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.76% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.34% over the last three-month average share.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 30% in December 2021, a 9.09% rise over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 26.25% in December 2021, marking a 54.35% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 26.25% in December 2021, a 5% rise from November 2021.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 16.25% in December 2021, a 62.5% rise over the previous month.
Top five mining companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 23.68% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s mining industry during December 2021 over previous month.
BHP posted 12 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Evolution Mining with 11 jobs and an 8.33% drop. AngloGold Ashanti with 9 IT jobs and Anglo American with 8 jobs, recorded an 800% rise and a 700% rise, respectively, while Fortescue Metals Group recorded a 41.67% decline with 7 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s mining industry
Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 76.25% share in December 2021, a 20.78% decrease over November 2021. India featured next with a 10% share, down 11.11% over the previous month. Singapore recorded an 8.75% share, a growth of 600% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70%, down by 12.5% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 22.5% share, registered a decline of 18.18% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.5% share, down 60% over November 2021.
