IT jobs accounted for a 4.39% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.03% over the last three-month average share.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations leads by classification in October 2022
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 45.16% in October 2022, a 12.5% drop over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 29.03% in October 2022, marking a 40% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 16.13% in October 2022, a 61.54% drop from September 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 3.13% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s mining industry during October 2022 over previous month.
BlueScope Steel posted 11 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered an increase of 450% over the previous month, followed by Fortescue Metals Group with 7 jobs and a 12.5% drop. BHP with 6 IT jobs and Newcrest Mining with 6 jobs, recorded a 25% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while Gold Fields recorded a 62.5% decline with 3 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s mining industry
Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 69.35% share in October 2022, a 53.76% decrease over September 2022. India featured next with a 14.52% share, down 25% over the previous month. Singapore recorded a 4.84% share, a growth of 200% compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.74%, down by 56.25% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 30.65% share, registered a decline of 5% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 1.61% share, down 83.33% over September 2022.
