June 2021 has seen an decrease of 3.53% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.8% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2021, registering an increase of 0.38% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 38.53% in June 2021, a 31.15% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 22.02% in June 2021, marking a 26.32% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 13.76% in June 2021, a 7.14% growth from May 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 12.12% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s mining industry during June 2021 over previous month.
Freeport-McMoRan posted 9 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a decline of 30.77% over the previous month, followed by AngloGold Ashanti with 8 jobs and a flat growth. Ryerson with 7 IT jobs and Glencore with 7 jobs, recorded a 133.33% growth and a 133.33% increase, respectively, while RTI International Metals recorded a 57.14% decline with 6 job postings during June 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s mining industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 75.23% share in June 2021, a 10.87% decline over May 2021. Canada featured next with a 22.94% share, flat growth over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.83% share, a flat growth compared with May 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 52.29%, down by 28.75% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 40.37% share, a growth of 91.3% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.42% share, down 50% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.92%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
