December new jobs stood at 6,555, down from 7,518 posted in November. December also saw a lesser number of jobs closed, at 6,822 as against 7,116 in November.
According to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database, new jobs increased in Europe, North America, and Middle East & Africa, but declined in Asia Pacific, and South and Central America.
North America witnesses the highest number of postings in December
North America saw the highest number of new job postings, at 3,611, followed by Asia-Pacific and Europe. North America accounted for 43% of the jobs posted during the month. Asia Pacific accounted for 25.3%, while Europe accounted for 23.5%.
The lowest number of postings were made in the Middle East and Africa, which accounted for 2.3% of the total postings in the month.

The top ten companies by the number of jobs posted remained unchanged during December, although the total number of jobs posted by them declined by 14.7% compared with the previous month.

By GlobalDataThyssenKrupp continued its lead position by posting the highest number of jobs of 714 during the month, accounting for 44.6% of the total jobs posted by the top ten companies together.
Demand at senior level dips by double-digit
While postings declined across all levels, it was senior-level jobs that declined the most. The number of postings for senior level dipped by just over 20% month-on-month, whereas junior-level postings were flat month-on-month.
Entry- and mid-level posting declined, but at a lesser rate of 6% and 4%, respectively.
Engineering continues to be in demand
Education-wise, engineering skills continued to attract the highest number of jobs, followed by planning and law education. Nearly half of the job postings were related to these three education types. Postings for engineering education, however, saw a monthly decline for the first time in the second half of the year.
Demand increases for highly experienced staff
More than one-third of the mining jobs companies posted in December were for people with a minimum of five years of experience. The maximum fall in postings was witnessed in the experience range of ten years.
Postings increased for people with the highest experience range of 15 years, while demand declined for all the remaining experience ranges.
IoT and drones jobs in lesser demand
The demand for jobs related to internet of things (IoT) declined by 33% in December, while jobs related to drones as a theme declined by 29% compared with November.
Some of the other themes that saw a double-digit demand decline were robotics, cloud, and environmental regulation.
