Sandvik has unveiled its xSeries group of drills, building on rotary blasthole drill technology, as it looks to provide customers with a migration path to its iSeries of underground drill rigs.
The xSeries group of rotary and DTH drill rigs feature improved operator ergonomics to enable operators to safely drill holes.
Sandvik has said that the drills are easy to learn, operate and service, and include touch screen GUI interface featuring the Sandvik Automation Module (SAM), a compressor management system with lite electronic controlled compressor system and an oversized driller’s window that provides a “superb view” of the drill table during operation.
The touchscreen GUI interface with SAM also features an optional health monitoring system, which makes it possible to replace old style shutdown switches and enables continuous, real-time measurement. This facility in turn allows operators to take the necessary actions in advance of any alarm situation.
The xSeries group uses the same hardware and software components as the iSeries machines including a 7” mobile grade rugged touch screen and the latest generation PLC. A graphical user interface also reduces learning times for new users.
Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology vice president for surface pedestal drills Jacques Britz said: “For decades, customers have counted on Sandvik to develop the most durable products in the market – rigs that will be able to work at a mine site for decades.
