Softening method for high-strength q & p steel coils
A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11981972B2) discloses a softening method for high-strength Q & P steel hot-rolled coils. The method involves a series of steps including rough rolling, finish rolling, laminar cooling, and coiling to obtain a hot-rolled coil. After unloading the coil, it is covered with an insulating enclosure unit within 60 minutes and moved into a steel coil warehouse for an additional 60 minutes of insulation. The hot-rolled coil is then cooled to room temperature in air, resulting in a yield strength reduction of =85 MPa and a tensile strength reduction of =150 MPa, with an elongation of =15%. The microstructure of the steel coil post-treatment is mainly bainite+cementite.
Furthermore, the method specifies heating the ingot at temperatures ranging from =1150° C. to 1200-1300° C., with soaking times varying from 60 minutes to 1-3 hours. The rough rolling and finish rolling are performed in a temperature zone for complete austenization, with an overall hot rolling reduction rate of =90% and a final rolling temperature of 800-1000° C. Each hot-rolled coil is individually covered with an insulating enclosure within 20 minutes of unloading, and cooled at a rate of =15° C./hour within the enclosure for an insulating time of 1-24 hours. The coiling is done at a temperature of 400-523° C., contributing to the overall softening process of the high-strength Q & P steel hot-rolled coil.
