Kodal Minerals has encountered lithium mineralisation during diamond drilling at the 450km² Bougouni lithium project in Southern Mali.
The company has reported intersections from the first two diamond drill holes at the Sogola-Baoule and Boumou prospects on the project.
At Sogola-Baoule, the highlights include 30m at 1.51% lithium oxide from 56.08m, and 5.5m at 1.59% lithium oxide from 96.48m in drill hole MDDH002.
Intersections in drill hole MDDH001 include 16m at 1.85% lithium oxide from 94.35m.
Meanwhile, drilling at the Boumou prospect is said to have intersected multiple pegmatite veins, extending the geological model of mineralisation.
Kodal Minerals CEO Bernard Aylward said: “We continue to make solid progress with both drilling and development activities at Bougouni and have successfully added definition to the geological interpretation and extended the areas of known mineralisation at our key prospects at Sogola-Baoule and Boumou despite a very extensive wet season in West Africa.

By GlobalData“We intend to re-commence diamond core drilling this week, followed by reverse circulation drilling next week and will maintain two rigs through to the Christmas break. We are expecting to be able to continue to expand our current resource base as we look to move rapidly to development.”
As part of the project development activities, the company noted that environmental assessment evaluations are continuing. An independent mineral resource geologist also completed an assessment of the site.
During the next campaign, Kodal will target the Boumou prospect using RC drilling in an effort to expand the mineralised zone and define mineralisation.
In July last year, the company identified high-grade lithium mineralised intersections at Sogola-Baoule through follow-up drilling.
