Two separate mining accidents in Pakistan have resulted in the death of at least 23 miners and injuries to several others.
Both accidents occurred at coal mines near Quetta in south-western Pakistan.

At least 16 miners were killed after an explosion occurred in a mine in the Marwar coalfields in Baluchistan province.
The explosion was reportedly caused by a build-up of methane gas inside the mine.
Akhterzada, an injured coal miner, was quoted by Al Jazeera as saying: “There were no arrangements inside the mine, including air ventilation.
“The owners and managers of mine companies don’t care for poor workers, because for them money is more important than our lives.”
